With strong request from members, GFA held a webinar on GHG Methodology (Discovering Carbon Emissions Calculation for Logistics) on 12 April 2018. Mr. Stephan Schablinski who is a member of the GFA Board of Directors and also the Vice-President, Global GoGreen, DHL Supply Chain facilitated the training and presented the GHG accounting principles, calculation methodologies and limitations of existing approaches.
More than 30 executives from 10 countries attended the one-hour training and here’s the highlight of the session:
1. Identify the purpose of your carbon accounting.
Is it to Improve corporate reputation and accountability through public disclosure?
Is it to reduce costs through improved supply chain efficiency?
Is it for new market opportunities?
2. Familiarize with the 3 scopes of GHG emissions reporting
3. Calculate emissions either by using Direct Method (uses emission factor) or Indirect Method (uses consumption factors in combination with emission factors).
4. Make use of the GFA Label process as a convenient way to get your CO2e emissions calculated in line with applicable standards and to provide your customers with your company specific consumption factor.
