Overview of Electric Heavy-duty Vehicles Policies in Southeast Asia
The Southeast Asian region is a fast growing region, in terms of economic and industrialization. Heavy-duty vehicles are the backbone of this growth. In the same time, many countries in the region has announced their commitment to reach carbon neutrality in the near future, e.g, by 2050. Despite having a relatively small population, heavy-duty vehicles responsible for large share of GHG emissions, which is disproportionate to their population size. Therefore, by adopting a common approach to promote electric Heavy-duty vehicles, the region could secure its projected economic growth and at the same time keep up with their carbon neutrality target.
About the Speaker: Aditya Mahalana
Aditya Mahalana joined the ICCT in February 2020 and is based in Jakarta, Indonesia. His work includes electrification strategy development in Indonesia, fuel efficiency in Vietnam, soot-free work for ASEAN, and remote sensing testing in Jakarta. His work also encompasses vehicle taxation structure in Indonesia and other transport and environment projects for ASEAN. Prior to the ICCT, Aditya worked with various organizations, including GIZ, ASEAN Working Group on Environmentally Sustainable Cities, and several local NGOs.

Thuy Nguyen is the Area Head of Sustainability - (Vietnam/Thailand/Cambodia/Myanmar/Laos) for Maersk Logistics and Services. She is an accomplished professional with a strong background and over 15 years of experience in sustainability, HSSEQ, and compliance management. In her current role at Maersk, she has been driving the sustainable energy transitions roadmap in Logistics and Services across the Mekong region.
